Help Us Press Beg To Differ On Vinyl
When Beg To Differ came out eventually in 2008 it had been a long labour of love. Originally much of this record had been produced in 2005, with a view to release in the summer of 2006. This was to be the first time we'd released a CD to be distributed into the mainstream stores like HMV at the time, and a myriad of problems ensued, everything from artwork delays to barcode manufacture, all the way down to registering and paying for use of the recordings (to myself nonetheless!!) via the MCPS caused 18 months of delay ahead of it's eventual release in 2008. Back then, vinyl pressings were much cheaper, but I'd planned against going that route.
In the 12 years that have passed, the album found itself among some of the much-loved UK underground albums of its generation. There have been various calls for it to be pressed, but with prices rising almost tenfold to press vinyl and fewer stores to sell to - it almost seemed a pointless and expensive exercise whilst I wanted to focus on releasing the music we've all enjoyed on the label in the past decade.
So here we are today, on Bandcamp - a platform that has been an absolute god-send to me and the label, offering an opportunity for all of those interested to pledge and potentially bring the vinyl pressing to life after all these years. If you've ever wished for one, now is the chance to make it happen.
I've taken into consideration the fact many original Grime & Dubstep heads who'd enjoy this will be buying with the intention of actually playing it! So the tracklist will be shuffled accordingly to ensure that the most popular tracks align on the front of each of the four sides. The pressing will be spread across 2 12" records to ensure that the volume is suitable for these records to be played on the biggest soundsystems appropriately. Not just a record for the collection - I hope you get to use this alongside all the other gems that were released during that special era!
